Artists at Huntenkunst 2025

Huntenkunst 2025
Huntenkunst has grown into a major art activity, which has become a May tradition. The 31st event will take place on 23, 24 and 25 May at the SSP Hall in Ulft. Since its inception, the festival has been supported entirely by volunteers. Thanks to them, the fair has grown into an internationally loved and well-known art festival, which has many participants every year and also attracts many visitors. The variety of styles, the diversity of techniques, the presence of the artists and no less the many foreign artists makes the event accessible and special. Certainly the new project ‘Masters of Realism’ will attract attention. Plenty of attention will also be paid to young people. Recently graduated students from Artez are housed in a special pavilion. Via Kick, primary school pupils are involved in Huntenkunst with a special project. Their creations have been given a special place at the festival.

Latvia
An array of foreign artists are participants, which gives Huntenkunst its international name. This year’s highlight is the Latvian project. Nine artists from Latvia will show their work in a joint pavilion. They will exhibit photographs, paintings and sculptures. The organisation is still looking for a few host families for these artists.

Uncertain future
Organisationally, thanks to its volunteers, Huntenkunst has made a good name for itself and is much appreciated within the art world both at home and abroad. For its accommodation, however, the event depends on the Municipality of Oude IJsselstreek. The latter is the owner of the SSP Hall. For it to go ahead in Ulft, the cooperation of the municipality cannot be missed because of the accommodation. Currently, progress is being seriously blocked. Huntenkunst is an extensive fair and requires thorough preparation.

Artists from the region
Of interest to visitors from the region is the participation of artists from their own area. As many as four artists have been selected from Doetinchem, for instance. Nicole Borghuis will show work in mixed media with portraits as the main theme. Chinese artist Youzan Chen makes drawings and paintings characteristic of her native country. She currently lives in Doetinchem. Tico Geurtzen is part of the Artez project. She works with various materials. Rido Jansen often depicts human figures. Terborg is represented by Jeroen van Herten. In his case, acrylic creates structures. Maarten Rots shows calm-looking paintings in which abstract forms are unified. Bert Taken shows human figures, clearly depicted in a forest of colours representing plants. From Ulft is Peter van Tuijl with photographs. According to him, these should have depth and attract attention. From Gunter Wagner are fragile wire objects, which are playful and consuming. Finally, sisters Ingrid Nijenhuis and Ulft-born Jeannette Nijenhuis. Ingrid will come with paintings and Jeannette with ceramic objects.
