Recently, we received the sad news that Manuel Kurpershoek had already died of his debilitating illness on January 6 last year. As a loyal and enthusiastic participant in Huntenkunst, we do not want to leave his importance for our event undiscussed. From the beginning, he participated in Huntenkunst. For him, this event was a highly appreciated art happening. He was very involved. He had to drop out with suffering. Unfortunately, his health no longer allowed participation.
He was an amiable and also a cheerful person. His presence had a stimulating effect. His positive collegial attitude stood out. Manuel definitely contributed to a pleasant atmosphere. He enjoyed his work and conveyed that experience with enthusiasm. Manuel was a person-oriented person, which he also expressed in his work, preferably drawings. During his illness he made characteristic portraits of his fellow sufferers. People who were literally scarred by the chemical cure. Books were published with those drawings of his. He was also a committed artist. For example, he jumped into the breach when Huntenkunst was in danger of losing their home in 2007. In a letter, he drew attention to the value of our activity. He called: “Huntenkunst the most friendly art fair in the Netherlands and surroundings”.
We think back to Manuel in gratitude. In addition to his contribution, he leaves behind a treasure trove of works as a grateful memory.
